Founded in 1937 by René Gilbert in Milly (Normandy), near Mont-Saint-Michel, MAISON COQUEREL is today the leading independent Calvados producer, holding over 11% market share. The DOMAINE DU COQUEREL also produces Pommeau and has developed a trading business (Cognac, Brandy, etc.), which accounts for around 20% of its revenue. Present in about twenty countries, the company is the leading independent exporter of Calvados. MAISON COQUEREL has been awarded over one hundred medals, including the Grand Prix d’Honneur of the French President five times, recognizing the best Calvados cellar.
DOMAINE DU COQUEREL has completed a capital increase with SJATO GABRIEL through a minority stake investment. Following the handover of management to Pierre Martin, the Martin family has brought in SJATO GABRIEL — owned by financial investor Siman POVARENKIN, former owner of the Green Mark vodka brand — to support the brand’s accelerated international growth. SJATO GABRIEL recently acquired Yves Saint Laurent’s former château in Deauville (France).
