Founded in 1950, JAMES is a French family-owned company and a leading player in the design and construction of glued-laminated timber frames and structures. Based in Brécey, Normandy, the company operates a 19,000 m² production site and an in-house design office.
JAMES supports its clients from design to execution in the construction of agricultural, equestrian, industrial, commercial, sports and cultural buildings, with a strong focus on innovation and low-carbon solutions. JAMES brings together a team of 100 experts and generates revenue of more than 20 million euros (2024).
The CB Group, an independent family-owned company for five generations, specializes in the transformation of raw materials and, more specifically, aggregates, refractories, and minerals. It operates in the construction and industrial markets by providing products and technical solutions. To do so, it manages a network of quarries, multimodal platforms, and refractory production plants in France and internationally.
With this new external growth operation, the CB Group confirms its development strategy by diversifying its activities while strengthening its historical businesses. Its ambition: to structure a new sustainable sector dedicated to wood transformation. This initiative began in December 2024 with the acquisition of COSYLVA and is reinforced less than a year later with the arrival of James, both major players in glued-laminated timber, each bringing specific expertise serving distinct markets.
This development illustrates the CB Group’s ambition to build partnerships with leading players who share the founding values of this family-owned company and its commitment to contributing to a decarbonized economy. The CB Group is thus strengthening its positions in high-growth markets tied to sustainable construction and the valorization of natural resources.
With the arrival of JAMES, the CB Group will represent nearly 250 million euros in revenue in 2026, with close to 800 employees. Its dedicated division, Les Bois du Groupe CB, will account for more than 16% of the Group’s activities.
